Potions had never been Sienna’s strongest subject. In fact, it was undoubtedly her worst one. Sure, she could do pretty well if she made an effort, which she always did, but it took required more focus and hard work than most other things. It was just so ridiculously boring. Still, she had to do it. For the last five years, she’d been an excellent student, and that wasn’t about to change anytime soon, even though this Potions assignment was proving to be a challenge. For the millionth time over the last few days, the blonde found herself wondering why she was even taking NEWT level Potions. The answer was simple enough, though. She didn’t know what she wanted to do once she graduated yet, and Potions was required for a lot of career paths.
In a way, she supposed she’d been lucky. The topic for the essays had been handed out at random, and really, researching Amortentia should not be that difficult. It was only the most powerful and well-known Love Potion in the world, so one would think finding information on it was easy - and it kind of was, but everything she found was so… basic. A lot of people would probably think it was strange to think of that as a problem, but in her mind, it made perfect sense. After all, for an easy topic, more work was required in order to excel. Had she been given something obscure, all she’d have to do was find an old book and write whatever was in there, but for something like a well-known Love Potion, more thorough research was required for a good result.
So here she was, in the library, as she had been more or less the whole time since classes ended a few hours ago. This was the fourth or fifth book she was looking through, and also the fourth and fifth book to only mention its color and how it smelled different to everyone. That wasn’t nearly enough. Sure, she could probably somehow turn that into a four-page essay, but it simply wouldn’t be any good. It might get her an A, but for Sienna Warrington, an A was (ironically) not acceptable. Even in Potions, she couldn’t settle for anything less than Exceeds Expectations. So that meant she had to research more.
Closing the book, she let out a soft sigh and looked around. There weren’t many others around. Not that it mattered - it wasn’t like she wanted to ask for their help or anything anyway. Therefore, after brushing some strands of hair out of her face, she got out of her seat and walked back to the shelf where she’d found the book. She stood looking at it for a moment, running her finger over the labels to see if there was anything she might have use of. She had a feeling these books would probably just be more of the same, though, no matter how many times she stood there reading the labels. It wasn’t like any of them would suddenly become more useful, she knew that, but with any luck, she’d think of something.

so we keep waiting, ( waiting on the world to change ) [/size] Did it make her off if she felt herself wanting to go to the library during her spare time? Gabrielle, given just an hour or so of time to herself, couldn’t help the itching feeling she had to go to the library and read up on a few things before she had to go back to former duties. It seemed her free time was dwindling these days, and she figured she better snatch up the opportunity while she had the chance. Sneaking off before any of her friends could catch her and make her sit and gossip about nonsense things, she gracefully made her way towards the library, not seeing many signs of life near the large and beloved room. Most students found the library dreadful. Gabrielle loved it more than anything in the world.
Crossing the open space towards the librarian, Gabrielle stopped and whispered a few friendly words. She and the librarian had been on good terms since Gabi’s first year at Hogwarts. The librarians tend to favor and know those that love the library as much as them. Giving a hearty wave and smile, Gabrielle made her way through some of the stacks, taking her time. When she came to the library to find a book for her own pleasure reading, it was always a task. There were simply too many choices. She usually ended up leaving the library with five or six books, entirely too many for her to hope to read in the time allotted. Of course, she always thought that. But, she always finished them all—thanks to some late nights spent reading by the fireplace instead of going to bed.
Gabrielle’s one true love was reading and books. She adored any type of book—fiction, nonfiction, long, short, old, new. There wasn’t a single quality about a book that turned her off. Everything about them was magnificent. So, when she entered the library, she felt she was in heaven. She made her way through the stacks slowly, her fingers trailing over the spines of the books. She hadn’t even begun looking yet. She was merely enjoying the quiet, serene atmosphere before she began the hard task of settling on a book or two, which she knew in the back of her mind would turn into multiple books.
Turning a corner, Gabrielle was surprised to see another student there. It was a girl she recognized, though had never spoken to. She was a year younger, and a Hufflepuff. As Head Girl, it was Gabrielle’s duty to know almost all the students in the school. Not necessarily by name, but their year and their house, at least remotely, so she was able to perform her duties to the best of her ability. She wasn’t sure of the girl’s name, but she was knew that she was an exceptional student, and a prefect. She was most likely winning for the Head Girl position next year after Gabrielle was gone. Gabrielle prided herself on that position. She had worked exceptionally hard. She wanted to become a healer after she graduated, and she knew she needed perfect marks. But also, Gabrielle refused to let herself fail. She was simply that type of girl. And from the looks of it, this sixth year was as well.
Her outgoing spirit led her to approach the girl, a friendly and inviting smile on her lips. She had to make sure she kept her voice down. That was the cardinal rule of the library. But, she knew that librarian wouldn’t make a fuss over Gabrielle talking to someone, she was practically the golden child to them. Stopping a few feet from the girl, she continued to smile. "Hi there. I’m Gabrielle Dubois. Do you need any help? " She figured the girl probably didn’t, she was very bright for her year. But, it didn’t hurt to ask. And that was why she was the Head Girl.

Sienna was starting to feel a little frustrated about this whole thing. Most of her classmates would simply shrug and write the essay about the simple and superficial details in these books, but to her, it just wouldn’t do. She was supposed to be an excellent student, even without some kind of super Ravenclaw intelligence, and that also meant she had to work hard. She knew that, so she always worked hard and always did well. That was something like a mantra to her. Still, she couldn’t deny that sometimes, it could be both frustrating and tiring to always put all this effort into, well, everything. Not that it wasn’t worth it, because it was. It definitely was worth it to do well. To excel. She’d dealt with this for over five years, and wasn’t about to become a slacker so soon before her years at Hogwarts were over.
Potions was a bit different, though, because it just felt like she couldn’t do brilliantly no matter how hard she tried. She was starting to wonder if there was some kind of evil circle going on here, with her thinking she couldn’t do it causing her to not be able to do her best. Thinking like that wasn’t going to be any help, though. She needed to focus. On one of these mostly useless books on the shelf. Well, maybe not useless. They were just not very helpful right now. She loved books and reading and all, but this wasn’t for fun, so she couldn’t waste her time just browsing random books that told her no more than some fourth year could.
The sound of footsteps caused her to turn her head to see who was coming, and she soon saw another blonde walking towards her. They hadn’t actually spoken, but Sienna knew perfectly well who the girl was. Everyone in the school did, probably. Gabrielle Dubois was only Head Girl and one of the most brilliant and beautiful girls in the school, which was no small accomplishment, considering the general brilliance of Ravenclaws and the presence of a few other veelas. The older girl always seemed so nice, too - polite and proper and... amazing. Sienna didn’t go around telling people, but she definitely looked up to Gabrielle. She probably shouldn’t mention that, though, considering that they hadn’t had an actual conversation.
Sienna wasn’t the type to show that she was nervous, however, so when she realized that Gabrielle was actually headed towards her, she simply smiled back at her. ”Hi. I’m Sienna Warrington,” she replied, making sure not to speak too loudly. They were in a library, after all, and even though the librarian liked her well enough, there was no point in pushing the limits. ”No, I…” she started to say. She’d be lying if she said she didn’t want help (and an excuse to talk to Gabrielle), and this was a perfect opportunity. ”Actually, you don’t know anything about Amortentia, do you? I have a Potions assignment, and I can’t find much in these books.” Should she be a little bit more embarrassed to ask a virtual stranger for help? No, she decided. Gabrielle was Head Girl and a Ravenclaw, and she had asked if she needed any help.
